Air Conditioning

When your home or business requires a new air conditioner, call or fill out our online form and we will schedule a comfort analyst to visit with you to determine the best solution for your needs.

Below is some information that may help you understand a little more about air conditioning and refrigerants.

Two-Speed Air Conditioning
Today's air conditioners are adaptable to indoor comfort demands and outdoor weather realities. Two speed air conditioners ensure that you are getting optimum efficiency, humidity control and comfort whether it is 78°F or 98°F outside.

SEER
SEER is an acronym for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. The Federal Government mandates a minimum of a 13 SEER rating for air conditioning units. The SEER for each A/C unit is determined by the manufacturer, under government-approved laboratory conditions. The higher a unit's SEER, the more energy efficient the unit is. In order for an air conditioning system to achieve its maximum SEER rating, it must be properly engineered and installed.

Often times, the actual SEER in a home is much lower than rated. Poor air conditioner efficiency results in a higher electric bill because of improper design and/or installation. This is much like miles per gallon (MPG) for a vehicle. Maximum MPG is only achieved under optimal conditions.

Lexington Unique Indoor Comfort's service technicians are some of the best in the industry. They provide thorough consultation to ensure that your A/C system is operating properly, maximizing the efficiency and life span of your air conditioning unit. This assures a high SEER rating for your home, reducing your monthly power bill.

Refrigerants
Refrigerant is often referred to by the trade name Freon, owned by DuPont, a major force in developing the refrigerant business. Various refrigerants are best suited to particular applications. Currently, residential and light commercial air conditioners run on R-22 and R-410A.

R-22 is the refrigerant commonly called Freon by consumers. It is normally found in all residential and light commercial air conditioners. Since R-22 is not as harmful to the environment as other refrigerants, the federal government is allowing a slower phase-out for this type. Starting in 2010, R-22 will not be used as the refrigerant in newly manufactured equipment. By 2030 there will be a total phase-out of R-22.

R-410A is a new, environmentally sound refrigerant. Many people know it by the brand name Puron®. Lexington Unique Indoor Comfort is offering this alternative to our customers.
